We are looking for you for the Gardening, Cemetery and Forestry Office of the City of Stuttgart. The position is to be filled permanently.

The care operations of the Gardening, Cemetery and Forestry Office ensure an important part of the maintenance and care of urban green spaces in the Stuttgart area. The enterprises are responsible for higher-level green maintenance in parks as well as cleaning and traffic safety on urban play and recreational areas. A new focus is the sustainable care of nature and landscape protection areas as well as species-rich biotopes. The central location of the biotope maintenance team is located in Operation North in Zuffenhausen, and its responsibility extends throughout the entire city area.

  • You will perform green maintenance and care tasks in biotopes and ecologically valuable areas, ensuring they are clean and safe

  • You will manage wetland biotopes, orchard areas, dry stone walls, and other habitat and compensation areas

  • You will operate, manage, and maintain machines, equipment, and vehicles following instructions

  • You will work on meadow areas considering mowing concepts

  • You will carry out tree and shrub maintenance tasks

  • You will promote and protect valuable animal and plant species

Requirements

Your profile that suits us

  • A completed training as a gardener or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience in ecological open space maintenance

  • A friendly and confident demeanour towards others

  • Enthusiasm, sense of responsibility and independence

  • A Category B driving licence is required

  • Experience with the vehicles, machines and equipment commonly used in green maintenance and basic knowledge of site-appropriate plants are advantageous

  • Specific skills in species identification and competencies in biotope area management, or willingness to acquire such knowledge, are advantageous, as is AS tree qualification I
