Job postings are often the first point of contact between companies and potential candidates and therefore play a key role in determining whether an application is submitted at all. This first impression is especially important for international talent.
Many face additional challenges: uncertainty about language requirements, unclear expectations, or a lack of orientation in a new work culture. If job postings are complex or only written in German, even qualified candidates may decide not to apply.

A joint survey by Workeer and the language learning platform Babbel shows that 54% of talents only apply if they believe they fully meet the required language level. Unclear or very high language requirements can therefore discourage many potential candidates. Transparent and realistic requirements, on the other hand, can significantly increase the likelihood of applications.
A clear and inclusive design of job postings is therefore a key lever to reduce barriers and attract more suitable applications.
Inclusive job postings are characterized by clarity, accessibility, and intentional communication. The goal is to reduce barriers and enable candidates to realistically assess whether a role is a good fit.
A key factor is the required language level. Requirements should not only be realistic but also clearly communicated. It is important that the language used in the job posting matches the required level. For example, if a B1 level is expected, the job posting itself should also be written in clear and simple language. Complex wording or unnecessarily high requirements can be discouraging and often prevent suitable candidates from applying.
Many job postings are written in a way that requires a very high level of language proficiency. This is particularly noticeable in task descriptions.
Instead of: “You are responsible for handling incoming goods and ensuring their proper storage in accordance with company guidelines.”
Better: “You receive goods and store them according to our guidelines.”
Such simplifications help candidates understand content more quickly.
Structure also plays an important role. Clearly organized content, understandable task descriptions, and concise language help candidates quickly grasp relevant information. Key details such as responsibilities, requirements, and working conditions should be easy to find and consistently structured. Visual elements or highlights can further support accessibility.
Clear information about salary, working hours, and contract type is especially important for international talent. Transparent salary information builds trust and helps candidates better assess opportunities. Missing or unclear details can create uncertainty and negatively impact the decision to apply.

Starting June 7, 2026, salary information in job postings will become mandatory. Companies will be required to provide transparent information about compensation. Providing clear information early not only builds trust but also prepares for upcoming legal requirements.
Visual elements also play a role. Authentic insights or multilingual content can send a strong signal that international talent is welcome. It is important that these signals are credible and reflect the actual company culture.
Wording that explicitly shows openness toward international talent can reduce barriers and build trust. Results from the Workeer and Babbel survey show that many candidates are unsure whether they are truly addressed and therefore do not apply at all. Even simple statements such as “Applications from international candidates are explicitly welcome” can make a significant difference.
Is the required language level clearly stated, and does the job posting match this level?
Are requirements realistic and free of unnecessary barriers?
Are key details such as salary, working hours, and conditions transparent? Is the structure clear and easy to navigate?
Are international talents explicitly addressed and welcomed?
Workeer supports companies in designing job postings that truly reach international talent. We apply the key principles of inclusive job postings: clear language, realistic requirements, and a structured, easy-to-understand format.
In practice, this means we revise job postings linguistically, adapt them to the actually required language level, and ensure a clear and consistent structure. If German is not required, we also publish postings in other languages to directly reach talent.
In addition, we optimize employer profiles and ensure an authentic and accessible presentation of the company. This creates a coherent overall impression that builds trust and increases the likelihood of applications.
This turns a traditional job posting into an invitation for international talent to become part of your company.
