DZNE in Bonn is seeking a motivated individual for an MSc thesis or internship in the field of neuroimmunology. The "Translational Neuroimmunology" research group investigates how brain inflammation affects the development of Alzheimer's.

Description

  • Research at the intersection of immunology and neuroscience

  • Participation in the research group "Translational Neuroimmunology" at the DZNE in Bonn

  • Investigating how metabolic changes affect microglia reactions in neurodegeneration

  • Working with murine and human microglia cells in cell culture

  • Conducting immune activation assays

  • Using modern lab methods such as metabolic assays, flow cytometry, fluorescence imaging, and Western blot

  • Analysis and presentation of scientific data in English

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at a university in an MSc programme

  • BSc degree in immunology, neuroscience, biology, or a similar field

  • Initial experience in experimental immunology, neuroscience, or cell metabolism research is highly beneficial

  • Hands-on experience with cell culture and biochemical methods, such as protein assays, Western blot, or PCR

  • Knowledge in immunohistochemistry or flow cytometry is a plus

  • Excellent command of English for communication, writing, and presentations

  • Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research

  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

  • Willingness to work in a diverse, international team
