Beschreibung

Human activities are causing significant changes in marine ecosystems. Marine organisms are not only exposed to gradual changes in environmental conditions but also to more frequent extreme events such as heatwaves. This PhD project aims to study how these heatwaves affect the life history and physiological parameters of key plankton species. You will conduct state-of-the-art experimental research to understand the complex interactions in planktonic food webs.

🦠 Your Tasks 🦠
• Conduct laboratory experiments with micro- and mesozooplankton, as well as mesocosm experiments with natural plankton communities
• Investigate the impact of heatwaves on zooplankton ecology and behavior
• Analyze zooplankton feeding preferences at different temperatures
• Evaluate complex datasets and present your research findings

🔬 Your Profile 🔬
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Aquatic Sciences
• Strong background in Aquatic Ecology/Marine Biology
• Experience working with plankton ecology, including plankton culturing
• Team player with strong communication skills
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
